Diabetes Week
- 8 June 2016
- Group News
Diabetes Week starts on Sunday 12th June, finishing on Saturday 18th and we've got a lot going on over the next 10 days. The theme for this year is "Setting The Record Straight" - an opportunity to dispel myths and misconceptions about diabetes.
To make it easier for you to follow, we've collected all our Diabetes Week activity here for you.
- We're kicking off Diabetes Week celebrations a day early, with our Patron's Lunch event at Chapeltown Methodist Church (S35 1AE). We're doing Afternoon Tea in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday and celebrating her continued support as Patron of Diabetes UK. Join us for homemade cakes and sandwiches from 12:30pm to 3:30pm
- We'll be at a Wellbeing Event at the Home Office in Sheffield, talking about what diabetes really is, as well as talking about what help and support we offer to people affected by diabetes
- Our monthly group meeting is on Thursday 16th June (from 7pm at Houlden Hall - check out our Events page for more info). Dr Soon Song will be hosting an open Q&A - your opportunity to ask ANYTHING about diabetes. This is a popular meeting each year - we hope to see you there!
- Finally we'll be rounding off Diabetes Week at Heeley Festival on Saturday June 18th (12pm-5pm). We'll have a tombola and pick-a-stick game, and our mascot Leopold the Lion will be there throughout the day too!
It's going to be a whirlwind few days for us, but Diabetes Week is a great opportunity to get talk about the impact diabetes has on our lives. Hopefully we get to see you at one or ore of our events over the next 10 days!
Thanks as always for your wonderful support!
